I have been seeing a lot of people driving on the ice in the metro this past weekend. I have been using the wheeler and it would be nice to drive the truck. I measured 14″ of ice on sunday. What does everone think about driving a 3/4 crew cab chevy out there. DNR says it is ok for medium trucks, but the crew cabs are heavy trucks. Let me know what you all think! There are other guys driving half tons and small SUV’s out already too.

    Thanks in advance.

jeesh we have 40+”es of ice and i still hate driving my mid size truck on the ice!!!! I’d stick to the wheeler or a sled if it were met, let someone else fall through!

    fish hunter..

There is no problem with driving your 3/4 ton on 14″ of good ice.. less will hold your truck without a problem. The problem comes when there are imperfections in the ice. It can be a thin spot, crack, ridge, whatever.

The only time I have driven on the ice in the last few years was the millacs GTG.. I prefer to use the wheeler. Even though the risk is slight that anything bad would happen, its still a risk none the less.

How many lottery tickets can we buy before getting some kind of winner? Driving on ice is probably similar odds. I can never win anything on the lottery myself, but a family friend has had significant winners 4 times.
