With no snow. Are you guys running sleds on the Ice? If so any concerns with over heating?

With the cold weather I can’t see over heating such an issue especially with a liquid cooled, but it would be terribly hard on your slides/hifax. Nothing to lubricate them.

On the contrary Lip. There is a heat exchanger that needs snow to cool the antifreeze going through it. No snow means overheating in short order. That and the hyfax wear makes for a bad day.

Yep, found that out last weekend. Its best to have a fan cooled with no snow.. But I have yet run in very cold temps with no snow.

I’ve heard of guys overheating their sleds on very cold days when there wasn’t any snow to cool the heat exchangers. I personally don’t run my sleds on the lake if there isn’t any snow due to abuse the hi-fax take. Just my .02

We used to run the old 72-74 Yamaha GP 338 and SW 433’s for the bogies and fan cooling. Bobber just sold his a few years ago. You could drive the heck out of them! Very little upkeep.

If you ride on bare ice with liquid cooled sled you may overheat the motor but long after you melt your hyfax. Been there done that a few times.
