I keep hearing about the large walleyes being caught on mille lacs right now. I am going up this weekend and wonder what bait to use that gives me the best chance at a lunker?

Get out to the flats and get away from people and ATV noise.

    A few from last saturday:

Most all reports involve the use of two different techniques. A jigging spoon tipped with the head of a fathead minnow and / or larger minnows stuck on a red hook or a glow red jig under tip-ups.

Go Devils are mentioned frequently >>> http://bfishntackle.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=46

    Have fun!

NICE pics Kraig. That last one is a beauty. I had that one on last Monday. Might have a #6 Red Gami hook in her lip.

When I was up last week I caught big fish on the flats. During the day I had best luck right up tight to the deep edge of the flat. The steeper the break the better. I punched a lot of holes and stayed on the move away from the crowds. It will be inevitable that the crowd will come to you. I caught fish on Go Devils w/minnow head and shiners under a tip up.

I can’t stress enough to make lots of holes and stay on the move. If you try and wait out the fish and stay in 1 hole you will limit your success immensely.

The First one is the biggest, 27.75.

The last one is the smallest, 25.5.

He just had his arms extended further.

The young man is a Marine who was home visiting his family for the holidays.

These are his two biggest walleyes he’s caught.
