Me and a buddy want to go fish somwhere on the river but we are not too familiar with it. What are some spots that we could fish? some backwaters maybe?

The road between Wabasha, MN and Nelson, WI is referred to as the dike road. There are a few spots there that have easy access and usually put out some fish. Several of the towns on the river have marinas which can also be good.
