I used 1/8 power pro last year for walleye jigging.. it worked, but I didnt seem to get as many bites.

90% of my fishing(walleyes and crappies) is with 4# trilene xl.. never had serious issues. I like 3# anything I can find also for crappies. 2# is great for panfish in daylight hours(lots of light)… but I cant see well enough anymore to tie hooks on under light, and I have no desire to mess with it outdoors on a cold, windy day if Im packing light.

I second Triline ice. I use the 2# most and it is impressive.

I use Fireline Ice 8# on my walleye/northern rod. I use 2# Trilene Micro Ice on my pan-fish rod. I usually only go out with these two. In the case I decide to only go for pan fish, I carry additional line in my case to set up a 2-3 foot leader and use that at the end of my rod that has the 8# on it. This way, I can stay versatile and fish for whatever happens to be biting that day.

2 # trilene ice I’ve heard P-line is good but trilene is what they sell at ace in lacrosse. I’m still using my spool from last winter and it still works great! It never kinks up like other ice lines that I have tried which is key when trying to use a peace of metal the size of a pinhead in 15 feet of water…You really need as much sensitivity as you can get…Trilene=A++

You guys should give the 2# Suffix a try. I was really impressed with it last year.

Has any one tried the power pro Ice??
I bought a couple spools and put it on 2 rods, 1 for me and 1 for the Brat.
In years past I have just used trilene 6# XL low vis green and that seems to work well, I do like the power pro line but not sure I like the blue color for clear water ice fishing like on Mille Lacs.

I like the PP ice line. I run a Flourocarbon leader from a swivel.

I used the 1# diameter two years ago and did not like it for panfish. It seemed to freeze up a lot and wouldn’t come off the spool. I went back to 2# trilene ice. I still have 2# diameter on my heavier jig rods for deep water perch and walleye, and like it fine. Just didn’t like it for using light panfish jigs.

I use the P-line in 2# as well as Stren Gold in 2#. Both have been great lines for me. These are the lines I use for panfish.

What do you guys do when using 2# test and slip bobbers? I decided to try the 2# test this year, and the problem I have is adjusting my bobber stop knot. If I pull it too tight, I can’t move it without breaking the line, and if it’s too loose, it slides when it hits the guides. Any suggestions. Thanks,

I found some monofilament sewing thread that is as clear as water, fine as hair and TOUGH. I have tried to determine the break point using a scale but haven’t done so well establishing that, but I do have it on four of my pannie rods and think it is the cat’s meow right now. Today well got on a sunnie bite and this stuff helped ice perhaps 70 fish. A week ago I was into crappies up to 13 1/4 inches and the stuff was flawless.

The braids and I are not good company. I don’t like the way they absorb water and freeze or just plain get stiff. I really enjoy using Vanish fluorocarbon and most of my walldog winter equipment will have that on it. I do have one rod for walleyes that has braid in 2/10 but it still doesn’t see much action.
