Has there ever been fishable ice in Kansas?

I’ve always thought the only ice in KS was from the freezing rain storms.

Soo, I’m really looking forward to reports from this new (to me) area!

You might be surprised at the amount of streams and reservoirs in Kansas period. Ice fishing is hit and miss of course, but it has been all over with global warming, I mean lack of winter.

I believe in the winter of 1986/87 we had -32 deg (after hitting 114 that summer) on our ranch/farm by Smith Center, KS. We also had a blizzard in April I believe that shut down Western Kansas for a week. The national guard was flying in hay for a week for rancher via helicopters to save the cattle herds.

Kansas is the part of the world famous for noodling. Maybe you’ld like to show the boys how that’s done in the winter months?

Starts with a K? Could be a N or maybe a C in my order of guesses. A few sticks through the trees don’t give those three away lol

I lived in Kansas City, MO for several years and never seen anything more than a skim there, must be too far south, huh?
