We only had a couple of weeks of ice last year. Let’s all hope we get at least an average season this year. It would be great if we could get on the ice before christmas.

I’m with you man! Sure hope to get more than 2 trips in this season.
November 10, 2006 at 8:31 am #498136I agree and this 70+ degree weather isn’t helping.Suppose to get colder today and hope it lasts.

The only ice I want to see this year is in my glass of soda!
I’ll second that. I’d much rather be able to fish out of my boat in the winter than sit and fish thru a hole in the ice. Down this direction in a cold winter or even a “normal” winter you can’t get a boat in in the tailwaters. Len does a good job at keeping the landing open up at Lynxville but a guy can only do so much. I do icefish if that is my only choice but I’d much rather be out on the open water.

November 14, 2006 at 5:17 am #499214Bring on the ice!! We deserve a little more than we had last year. But that won’t stop me from heading north for some Glacial Lakes fishing. Hoping that Merritt will ice over nicely because it should be a hot bed for pan fishing. Plus its not to far to the casino. Not quite as nice as at Devil’s Lake but close enough to the casino to make the trip a little more interesting on those cold winter nights in Valentine.
Bring on the ice!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 22, 2006 at 12:11 pm #502173Yup, I’m hoping to get some icing in too, and I ain’t talkin hockey. I was told by a guy last night that he ice fished Elwood back in the day, so hopefully it will get ice thick enough to do some damage on. 5,6,7lb wipers thru the ice?? YAAA!!!!
November 29, 2006 at 12:32 pm #504174Man, it’s COLD here today, and looks to be that way for the next few days. I bet some ice starts to form now. I’m hot on the trail to get my first gas auger too, so hopefully I’ll be walkin on the hard stuff soon.
November 29, 2006 at 5:31 pm #504738Bring on the ice!!!! I would love it if we didn’t see the 40’s until March!!!!
Todd_NEPosts: 701November 29, 2006 at 9:01 pm #504844Had to take a little drive to attend a funeral and the Elkhorn River is puking 2-4′ crystalized ice mats with the lee water frozen. Most farm ponds are frozen if they are out of the wind.
I wanted to duck hunt from a boat Saturday on an area lake, I think… that is not gonna happen!
November 30, 2006 at 2:10 am #504993I’m thinking I’ll be checking some ice by the end of next week!!!!!
November 30, 2006 at 10:42 pm #505420I checked with a couple of guys from the panhandle and they are reporting some brave souls out around Alliance. There is the possibility of ice in the sandhills after the weekend. But here in the central part of the state we are still a week away at least. We have some skim ice but none of the deeper pits have frozen over yet.
Better safe than sorry. I think we all know someone that has fallen through. My problem is that I new one that didn’t make it back up.
