Just curious as to what/where you will fish/target first. Walleyes or Perch on mille lacs? LOTW? Metro area lakes?

I will probably target crappies or walleyes on Lake Macbride, gonna be some bigguns in there this year!!

Whatever lake near me freezes first I’ll hit, walleye are main focus, depending on where the ice is will decide what I fish for.

I will be hitting the usual Fisherman’s Road area in LaCrosse since it is “usually” the first place to freeze. Unless there is ice somewhere up north first and they wanted to invite an ice freak to join them

Lake Cornelia is usually first here in Central Iowa. Perch and the occasional walleye. Anything is fine though, bring on the ice.

Pool 8- Stoddard is my first Ice haven. Can’t wait. Once it dies there, I’ll be going deep for crappies and hopefully LM bass, if my plan works.

Nine times out of ten I end up chasing Gills or Crappies within 50-75 miles of home (I have a SWEEEEET little honey hole just south of Cambridge). As soon as those bays up on the big pond start freezing… boy LOOKOUT!! Once this day comes, well… catch me if you can. I’ve been know to start the day on Mille Lacs for a “quick trip” and spend most of the day there and end up sleeping on Upper Red (ooop’s sorry honey).

I think my wife MIGHT be right when she’s says I should go see a shrink about this.

We had skim ice at sun up on the channel at the Wharf on Mille Lacs this weekend. Only lasted a couple hours, but ice it was!
