Those prices are MSRP. Not cheap houses but they did not put them together cheap either. The material is much heavier and there are a lot more features on these shacks then on many others.

The weights on them things are unreal. 120# for the single and 145# for the 2 man. I think they Otter’s are lighter than that Now I see why they are designed to be towed and not pulled by hand. They look decent, but appear to be trying to copy the Otter shacks.

The X Trap is actually a spin off from the Polar Sport portable. The Polar Sport had the best tub on the market while the Fish Trap was always the number one seller but didn’t hold up to extreme conditions. With more and more guys taking these extreme trips to LOTW, Canada, Mille lacs and the Great Lakes and pounding on their gear, the was a need for a portable that could withstand the at most toughest conditions the weather and terrain could offer. Polar Sport and Clam joined forces and out came the X-Trap.

Well, I know Clam makes a great product I couldn’t imagine fishing without my Fish Trap Pro. I have never seen the Polar line since it isn’t very popular in my neck of the woods. I sold the Otter due to size and weight since I don’t have a 4 wheeler or sled, but I do miss the size and great fishability they have.

Sure look like well made shelters but the weight is too much for me, guess I’ll just stick with the old Guide and Pro series. They’re definitely made to be pulled with an ATV or sled.

I love the product but, fore you river rats that travel like I do on ice …..that’s alot of wieght. I love the lighter versions for the river as Wats said. The Trap and Pros are a awesome product also. Just 2 cents worth from some dude that will cover a mile fast for that 9inch gill

Bret, I agree. To get the true value out of a house like those in the X-Series, you really need to fish big water or tow your house a lot. That is really what they were designed for. For had towing there are much better options.

I just get excited when a company puts out a product that can handle the abuse that I give it on a daily basis. Mille Lacs can be bad but LOTW will test the limits of all your equipment.

Anyone know if they’ll just be selling shelter separate from the sled? I have the sled and seats already. However the new seats are really nice
