On a nice day yes the Buddy heater would get you by. But on a cold day it would not be enough. I use a Big Buddy in mine and it does a good job for me. I insulated the roof with the reflective bubble tape and even with last weekend’s frigid temps I was warm in my lodge.

I also have a lodge, and the small buddy heater. I say the answer is no, it works during the day if the suns out it will keep almost too warm. But if it’s cold and dark it really doesnt do the job. I bought a mr heater sunflower type heater and a 10 or 11 lb. tank it works for all weather conditions, I think the big buddy would work as well. I also have a fish trap pro and use the small buddy in it and it does a good job. Ron

Well I don’t have my lodge yet, it’s still in the shippers possesion, hopefully next week.

I will say the lil buddy isnt enough to heat a Eskimo traveler at -20. The big buddy is way to much. Still I’d rather be hot then freezing.

I have the Otter Magnum Lodge as well. I would suggest throwing a small shovel in with you and the Mr. Heater that can we used as both a heater and a cook top (Sun Flower Type. This has worked great for me. The only bad thing is that I am still using 1 lb propane cans. On a cold day, I will go through 1 lb of propane in about 1 1/2 hours. I fished a couple weeks ago in the real cold weather. When I found my spot, I shoveled in around the canvas and I was fishing in just a sweatshirt.

use a 10,11 or a 20# cylinder and buy a 12′ hose. Leave the tank on your 4-wheeler or sled and just have the heater inside. Takes up less room and a lot less dinkin’ around when it comes to packing up. Works great.

We can make up any length of hose and convert that to use any size cylinder you want at ferrell gas in rochester.

I also use the Mr.Heater/Cooker like mallard_militia. It would heat my Otter Magnum without a problem and I rarely went above the low setting. I also need to get a bigger tank since the 1# bottles do not last very long.

    Thanks gassman

I may just have to stop in sometime and get an upgrade kit. Would you guys suggest the smaller tanks or go right for a 20 pounder? I don’t want to steal my tank from the BBQ. We use the BBQ all year long.

I would go with a smaller tank just because the bigger tank takes up a lot of room and is pretty heavy at times. The smaller tank still lasts quite a while. Ted
