Anyone ice fish the Yellow above the dam in Cadott? We are going up there next Wensday and just wondering on the bite, ice conditions, and fishing pressure. We’ve have seen people ice fishing it before and are anxious to ice a smallie.

    Thanks

Joe, be careful. I know the water doesn’t move that fast above that dam, but with the weather the way it has been, I can’t believe there would be a ton of ice above the dam. Go below the dam and work down stream in the summer, I have done real well on the crappies, walleyes, and smallies. Check your regs if you do tho because I think they have different size limits on the yellow for walleye.

For what, to show you how to fish? Your going to have to hop in with Sean sometime this March/April and we’ll go to P4. But I like to go during the week because I don’t like being out there when the river is FULL of inconsiderate bozo’s!

There was an amazing 15 inches of ice, not a fast moving river. We even got right next to the dam, which was what we could find, the max depth of a little over 6 feet. Most of the river was about 5-6 feet deep. That was a disapointment. Me and my buddy each had two flags and I pulled up a maybe 18 inch pike. That was it. I guess its just better summer fishing.
