Looking for someone as far west as possible who carries a good line of ice houses.

So far I’ve narrowed things down to these three.

    Clam yukon
    frabill ranger XLTwin
Nordic 2 person? never heard of this one, any input?

The Nordic has a good sized sled so you are’nt sitting elbow to elbow. Also has good thick canvas that allows condensation to escape so you don’t get the moisture on the ceiling as with other fabrics. Made in the U.S.A. Check out http://www.polarsport.com and go to Nordic.

It would be a mistake for you to overlook polar sport. They make a high quality products designed by fisherman’s feedback. Theres been much talk about on here I’ll see if I can’t pull up an old thread.

You could probably order an Otter online. They ship for about $30! You would then have the best house on the market in my opinion!

    Thanks guys.

I am looking for a dealer a little closer to Alaska.

THe otters are definatly nice however the tub design forces the two people (in the walleye package anyways) to sit almost ontop of eachother. Kind of negaits the hole point of getting a slightly larger and more comfortable house. They are also one of the more spendy lines, being you buy the tent and then have to buy the matching tub. Haven’t started looking at the possibilities of using a straight sided tub instead of the ones they sell for it. Unless I can find a different tub for this line of ice houses, I wont be buying them.

I am all for one of the otters (with the different tub), a frabill xltwin or the fish trap yukon by the clam corp.

30 bucks to shipping? I’ll be honest with you. I expect to pay 3 times that or more and wont expect the house to arrive for over a month. Saw a yukon on ebay and the guy wont even SHIP to Ak, figures eh. The closer to Alaska I can find for a dealer the better. Fish traps site showed the closest is MT, 1668 miles away.

The Magnum sled and the Otter Lodge are huge! Dude, you would have to be quite a big guy for two people to feel crowded in that bad boy!
Where abouts in AK are you? Nice to hear from someone up in your neck of the woods!

    Chris,

THey are big for sure. The walleye was very nice. Just put us off to one side. Which imho kind of negaits the point of getting a larger fish house if you essentially using the same amount of space people wise. This was the ONLY downfall of the otter I saw. We are thinking of running a rail on the outer sides to accept the swivel seats. Which would allow us to fish both sides of the sled instead of the center and back end.

I am up in Fairbanks, originally from the MN area.

    Cool, I understand.
I have friends in Ninilchik. I get up there from time to time. The Cook inlet is sure fun! We go when the Silvers are running in August. We still get in on the tail end of the halibut bite. You are a lucky man! Funny how many MN people migrate to there! Most of the folks in Ninilchik are from Cottage Grove, St Paul Park and Newport!
