The chain has a pretty consistant 5 inches of ice on the lakes. After yesterdays snow, there was slush pockets occasionally. The river channel areas were wide open in many parts. ATV traffic seems to be the norm right now. I have found up to 7 inches in areas, but 5 seems to be the norm.

On a side note, I would guess the bite is going to be very good based on what I saw last night.

Crappies and walleye for me last night. I only fished a half hour but the bite was good. Still lots of slush on the ice but that should freeze over the weekend and travel should be real good.

All kinds of slush on Shoe today. The area I was in had 4 to 5 inches…

Since I couldn’t pull my portable out I drove it out with the wheeler…cut two holes, started setting things up and notice the water coming out of the holes…which bothered me….a lot. Moved the wheeler away from the house and started the heater….10 minutes later I was out of gas and getting cold with the north wind.

Packed up my slush bunnie and headed home.

There were a number of housed (portables) out there. I didn’t see any wheelers… though.

    I’m going to wait a bit yet….
