first ice on the pond

    made it up to Mille Lacs on Saturday for a full day of fishing.

    started out in cove bay around 8am and picked up a dozen very nice perch. biggest was a nice 13″ most fell in the 11″ range. also picked up 2 pike a 36″ and a 28″.

    about 2pm we went to search for the eyes, so I went over all the spots from this fall and chose to venture out of the east side

    picked up one sumo for the night that went 26″ and 3 for the bucket that went 17,and 2 at 19

    remember the slot is under 20″ now…. I almost forgot on a nice 21.5

    got a total of 8 eyes for the night. nothing fancy green pimple and a tip up with shinner, the pimple outfished the tip up 2 to 1.

    almost 8 in cove, the eastside was around 3-4″ after saturdaynight, sunday night and now today I would be there is almost a foot in the bays and a good 6″ on the east side

    I was only out about 200yds on the east side.

    Sounds like a great day. Supose the heaves will get started this week. Every body be careful.
