Ice Updates

Just went for a drive to check out ice conditions.

Found a few people down on fisherman’s road. Only about 1-2″ of ice. Nobody was more than 15ft from the bank. Fish really aren’t biting. One guy caught a few small bass, but that’s about it. They had some tip-ups out as well, but no flags.

Word has it they are pounding them good down at Cold Spring in the open water. Casting out by where ice there is.

For the most part, there isn’t a lot of safe ice anywhere just yet. The snow cover is keeping a good thermal warmth and there’s lots of areas with water yet.

Shouldn’t be much longer

Also took a drive this morning. A couple guys out at goose island. Watched one guy drill a hole, wow, took about a second to get through. Think I will wait for a bit yet. Like Slop said, shouldn’t be too long. John

yep i was at goose today and i was able to bust through in one chop with the spud still caught some fish and stayed dry
