Went down to ham lake this after noon. Froze overt about 3/4 way across the lake. Backed the truck in at the landing to check thickness. It was a good solid 2″ or better. Very suprised by this. Would think some of the other channels and early ice areas around here might be set to go pretty soon.

They say some warmer weather is coming. Hope we dont get that crappy ice this year.
November 24, 2005 at 11:34 pm #399073Did some checking around again today while waiting for the turkey to get done. Ham was wide open again.
The channel at coon lake was froze over but didnt look that thick. A couple more nights of cold weather and this spot should be ready.
The channel at chisago was also wide open. Dropping winds and cold temps should change this in a hurry.November 25, 2005 at 4:13 am #399103Looks the the winds wont drop for a day or so… Not good for ice fishing.
November 25, 2005 at 1:08 pm #399123How is it going Mike? One can only hope on the ice fishing. To cold and windy for the boat and not cold anough for ice. Whats a guy to do.
November 25, 2005 at 6:36 pm #399170Ham lake and Coon lake are pretty weel frozen over. Does not look to be very thick. May be tomorrow. There where several spots at the channel on Coon Lake that people had been checking ice. No one stuck around to fish.
One place I did not check today was Island lake north of Linwood. That was on of the few that stayed completely frozen over yesterday. Might be better ice there.
November 29, 2005 at 6:02 pm #399797We had a good base on Centerville and Peliter but lost it all from the damn rain!
