Fished the st croix and peltier lake yesterday. Hit the croix around 8:30 am looking for slabbers. Tried some 30 feet deep areas first with only one 8.5 inch sunfish to show. Tried some deeper areas in the 38-40 feet range and caught a couple sauger and white bass, but no crappies. Saw a few smaller ones caught and one big slabber. By no means was it a good bite. Around noon I headed to Peltier Lake and found lots of fish that weren’t very hungry. Found fish in 8-9 feet of water that were lookers and not biters. Caught a few sunnies and crappies. The ice on the croix was in good shape, a little soft by the power lines. Around 24 inches of ice. Peltier’s ice was not as good. The drive on area by the damn is not in good shape. The ice on the lake it pretty soft. The auger cut it up like butter. Around 20 inches of ice still though.
