St. Louis County

On Saturday I fished Dark Lake in St. Louis County. Closest city that I know of is Kinney. The ice was very poor. There was about 14 inches of ice covered with 6-8 inches of slush and then a hard half inch crust. It didn’t take long for myself and all the gear to bust throught that top layer. I was walking in 6-8″ of water all day. The iceman’s weren’t quite tall enough so it was a long day. This was a new lake for me so I wasn’t expecting much for fish. I got set up on a school of perch. I caught a ton of perch, but they were all less than 6″. I also got a 2 lb. sucker. After catching all those little perch on the noodle rod, this thing was a ton of fun to reel in. Overall, the fishing kept me entertained for a few very wet hours on the lake. Any day on the lake is a great day.
