i have been all over the web, and all that i can find is plans for a tarped hut. does anyone have, or know where i can get plans for an ice house that looks permanent when up, but tears down to a floor and walls in a pile at the end of the season? either a hinged model or one that you put together on the lake, but that can be taken there in the back of the truck.

My brother in-law built one a few years ago that did this. He just built the walls independently, and used a hook attached to each wall, and connected them with a couple of eye bolts with a coupling nut to tighten them together. He screwed the walls to the base and the roof. Spray some insulation in a can into the gaps, and you’re good to go!

    Good luck!

Mazzer, if you follow Steve’s link to

How to Build a Portable Ice Shanty Blueprints, directions, materials. Very popular design

I don’t think you need to buy any plans. I had one of these for 20 years..it had black canvas and we used it for angling and spearing.

Three 1×2’s across the sides with one on the top supports it. Both ends lie flat when collapsed. I sold mine for $50 last two years ago. With snow on the ice, they aren’t the easiest thing to drag around.
