Just wondering if anyone here has one and if you like it? Found one for a great price thinking about getting it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had one of the early versions and liked it, the 2.0 is supposed to be even better. If it has the optional carrying case and battery, that makes for a great setup.

It’s a great double-duty unit to use for both ice-fishing and canoe-expeditions in the summer. It’s light weight and portability (away from the case) allows you to use it in some situations that you otherwise just wouldn’t be able to use a flasher in.

That said, if this is going to be your stand-alone fish finder for ice next winter, I might try to steer you towards a 3-color flasher. I’m partial to Marcum, but with any of the mfrs., I think your experience in reading bottom, fish, and your lure is going to be better simply because those colors against one another contrast better than grayscale.

Just my opinion, and it depends on your usage, but those initial examples are what I use my Troller for.

Like Joel said, they are great for canoe trips too and even better (lighter) with a Lithium Ion battery. I know Marcum went through a good deal of research in choosing a solid lithium ion battery to slap their label on, it’s worth checking out.

Well I ended up picking it up. Just couldn’t resist the good price and seems like a good investment I can have forever as long as I take care of it. Thanks everyone for the advice!

I have the original (other than the 2.0 auto depth feature, I think they are basically the same) I like it because it’s small and lite and runs off AA batteries (I’ve yet to replace mine after a few years)

My son actually took over my 3-color flasher and I picked up the original a year ago cheap with a free power cap. I do use it as my only unit now and still keep up or out fish others. I hope you love it as much as I do. Being so light weight and extremely portable if you’re a hole hopper and like to move quick it’s hard to beat. It shows my jig and fish just fine. I don’t have the ice pack and extra battery and charger and just run off batteries which last most of the winter for me with heavy use. I also use it in my canoe. If I wasn’t buying so much other stuff this spring I’d of bought another or 2 so each of my boys has their own. It seems if you turn fishing into a video game it holds their interest lots longer.

One thing that really got me curious is the ability to shoot through ice before drilling. Anyone have any experience doing this? I was reading up on it and it sounds like you just put some water down and can shoot right through. Nice feature with it out of the docking station.

Well, supposedly shooting through the ice is suppose to work with any device but it’s never worked great for me. Our ice must be too dirty in Wisconsin.

There are times with the right ice that you can get water on top of the ice and shoot through with out drilling. I have seen guys that will actually carry a small torch with them to heat the ice up to allow them to check a lot of water quicker than normal.
