I am looking for a good gps and ice flasher combo. I am considering lowrance or humminbird. Anyone out there with any expirience with one. My preffered choice would be if marcum came up with an gps upgrade to their lx6,7,9 units.

I have been wondering the same thing. Open water I have the Hbird 1198 so knowing where I am on the lake is easy.

How do the ice fisherman typically do this in a convenient manner. Is there any chance my LX9 could be used as a GPS unit as well.

I’ve talked about it a few times…The Humminbird 597 converted to ice is great! They are going for under $400 now. has a great flasher mode and is nice on the bow of a boat as well.

I use a handheld H2Oc when walking out and a 5″ Lowrance in

    the truck or ATV.

If I’m driving out I still use the handheld when locating

points, turns, and steep drops after I stop the truck.

I thought the H2Oc was discontinued because it had too many problems.

Discontinued. Use a handheld in conjunction with your LX-.
