I find it interesting that the majority of the people having problems with these units have very few posts and usually have just recently joined the sight. I would find it believable that they just joined and there first post was the problem with there unit. But couple of posts and then there unit messes up and marcum is giving them poor customer service. That blows me away since marcum has always gave me great customer service even when the unit is out of warenty.

I’m new to IDO and have not made many posts. But I agree with you! Something is kinda fishy about all of these problems guys are having. Kinda makes you wonder if it’s a bunch of hardcore vexilar users just creating waves The only problem I have had with my LX-7 was it fell out of the bag and landed on the ice once hole hopping.

First welcome to IDO. The cases do leave something to be desired.
March 26, 2014 at 7:57 pm #1399542Thank you for the welcome. After seeing the LX-7 hit the ice and scare the heck out of me I solved that problem with a trip to the hardware store for some velco tape. I ran the velcro tape all around the inside of the case and now you can hold the thing upside down if you want to. Lots safer on the investment
March 26, 2014 at 8:13 pm #1399548I totally agree with you Mike. Its funny how they just got the unit a few days ago and are having problems with it and they come on here and are looking for help…first thing i would do is call Marcum. Its pretty much a no brainer! I would have to say that these guys must own vexilars and are jealous. Just saying… I havnt done the update on mine yet and still havnt had a single problem with it!
March 26, 2014 at 10:54 pm #1399568Well, my lx5 was screwed within a week when I got mine. (Bottom started shifting)
No complaints though from me, best sonar I’ve used to date, I am impressed with the lx7’s though.March 27, 2014 at 12:01 am #1399570Have to keep in mind they are very new technology, going to take a few years to iron out the kinks. That’s the price you pay for innovation! I have an lx 7 and love it had a few issues at first but free updates and great customer service got me on track fast!

ohiobuckPosts: 6March 27, 2014 at 1:29 pm #1399746So if you’re new to this site and you pay almost $1,000 for one of these units and have a problem with it or maybe just don’t understand how to work it correctly you should not ask someone on this site for help that might know what the problem is . Hummm seems like a pretty good site to me

If that were the case, you would think they would play Perception Management games at other sites a bit less Marcum centric where it would have greater potential impact. Just my two cents.
March 27, 2014 at 1:58 pm #1399766You’re absolutely right about this. I joined because this seemed like one of the best places to start when I began having problems with my new Marcum. A lot of people have way more experience with these new platforms than I do, so why not go to them. I’m not bad mouthing Marcum at all, my other flasher is a vx-1 that I have had for close to 10 years with no problems. If I had to get a new one tomorrow, it would be another Marcum. But thanks for the open arms welcome. Oh, checked out a bunch of your early posts Joe, hard to believe all these gems came from one person. Next time I need 2 cents, worth a penny, I’ll hit ya up. Good luck on the water.
