John and I have been in conversation on coming up with a great long rod that would put durability and sensitivity in a rod for hole hoping the back waters of the Mississippi River…

Well when I got back from LOTW there was a card in the mail box telling me to get my butt up there and pick up a package that I was waiting for !!!

    48″ long

a handle that will fit your favorite reel not needing tape or rings to keep the reel in place

Great backbone to handle them pesky bass but yet sensitive enough to detect the light biters…

Recoil Eyes so bustin ice off the guides with out breaking them is an every 10 minute occurrence

Marks on the rod starting from the cork handle out to 8″ as the first mark and ever inch after that to 16″….now when your buddy is rubbing it in that he just put a monster 10″ gill on the ice.. walk on over and put his trophy to the quick measure add to the rod…

I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice this week to put this rod thru the paces…

    Thanks John !!!

X2 – I built mine at 42″ and a lot of guys look at me as if I have a 7′ ultralite in my hand. Sweet looking rod! I like the measurement detail very nice

Damn you guys! Quit posting these. I’m pretty new to ice fishing. As in the last 3 yrs. And you’re not helping my pocket book.

You should see the looks I get with the 6′ 9″ two piece line-thru-the-rod pole I built to use in water over 8 feet deep to about 12′. Desoto Bay was just too deep for my 5 footer, I had to hand-over-hand to land a fish.

Very nice, I am just itching to get on of these only I’m thinking of getting a split grip with it for a spinning reel. My b-day is coming up so hoping I can allocate some funds toward a TUCR like that. Are you using a spring bobber with yours? Couldn’t tell from the pic, thanks.

I did put a spring bobber on just for trial…but this time of year it really was not necessary…

I’m thinking of a nice adjustable spring bobber woould do the trick !!

Cost of that rod is between $90 and $145. There are a lot of options for a rod like that. Between handles and guides choices there is endless options.

Dave’s were $125 with a reel seat and REC guides.

    Thank you.

hey are those 6061 reel’s after the last too years no way would I give mine up and I can see why this rod would be great for the backwaters it sit’s you back from the hole as not to spook the fish by sight up through the hole or your shadow, and it would be super fast in and out of the hole with no or little reeling, well dave we have no backwaters here so I,ll have to make it back out and see just how they are.
