Blade issues

So I bought a used model 31xt legend jiffy, with the 3.0hp motor and 10″ blades and the blades just won’t cut! I’ve replaced the ripper blade itself but it still takes me probably 5 minutes to cut a hole. The engine runs fine, but the blades just won’t catch the ice. What could I do?
    Thanks a ton!

Blades on backwards? Thats my guess. Not an insult by any mean plenty of people do it. Including myself once.

Jiffy does turn counter clockwise just so you know. I have a jiffy right now and i got new blades coming cause mine were very sharp and still wouldnt cut cause the blades were bent.I have the STX blades so there is 3 blades on mine. Make sure your blade is at like a 45 degree angle to the ice. If its to straight it wont catch the ice. Hope this helps.

Haha I made sure I put them on the same way they came. Though I will double check!

Do you know if the STX blades fit on the legend model 31xt? I really want to replace the 2 little teeth blades because they look more dull than a rusty knife. But the normal Ripper replacement blades don’t come with those blades.

It could be that the previous owner, etc. put them on wrong also, so copying how it was before may not be right.

You can also try sharpening the smaller blades that look dull. Do a google search on sharpening ice auger blades.

I’m new here but, I had the same issue after sharpening my ripper blade. The bolts have to go up from the bottom with the nut on top of the plate and blade. The nuts weren’t allowing the blade to bite into the ice.
