where do the fish go ? and fish finder

I have noticed that the lake I fish that the bite is slowed to almost nothing..This is not a very deep lake..With the thicker ice,do you think the fish,gills,will go shallow or deeper…If I go tomorrow,I might try like 5 foot or less to see…..
Also,what would be the best fish finder to get to use in this lake..The deepeset might be 30 foot is all…Thanks for any ideas…

thanks for the replies…I will be sure to check it out…In the mean time I will continue to use my humminbird 165 pirhanna……But I do think I want to get a flaasher for next year..

If you like Humminbird, pick up an Ice 35. I got mine for $270 and love it.

started in deep water today and worked back to the shallows..No bites in the deep water..Got back into approx. 8 foot and caught only 3 gills ? starting to wonder if maybe some type of hatch is going on and they just aint hungry?

I’ve been on the best sunfish fishing of my life the last three weeks with the best outing being 65 fish in 3 hours…Including several over 9″ and typically i get at least one 9.5″ gill or more per outing.

All these fish have been in 7-12 fow on a large flat within a 1/4 mile of deep water.

Last few outings has been more sporatic, i.e. fish not as willing to bite and more spread out. Still picking up good numbers of fish, but nothing amazing.

I’ve been moving around a lot trying to dial them back in. Started doing a little searching out deeper in the 16′ range and am also finding sunfish and crappies too.

Haven’t quite figured out my next move yet, but fishing shallow has been the ticket for me.
It’s bad when i consider <20 fish in 3 hours to be a “Tough bite”

found them in 6 foot of water…caught 23 in no time

maybe I will have to fish again today…
