my question is if the fish arent hitting one color what is your thought process on which color to try next? for example last night i got to the lake and was trying black. the fish would come and look at the bait but would not hit. would you try going to a brown next or would you jump to the other end of the spectrem and try lets say a light pick or something along those line? thanks for the help. btw never could get a bite going last night, finally caught two small crappie, one on a wax worm and one one a pearl wax tail.

I usually try the opposite of the spectrum. If I start with dark I’ll switch to bright then work back to dark. Depends on the conditions and water clarity too, so it does depend quite a bit for me. Sometimes if I have a bunch of lookers that just don’t quite want to commit or maybe they just nibble,I know that the color interests them, I’ll switch profiles of the plastic or jig as well.

Black, chartreuse, white, then natural… or whatever worked last time is where I start.

I like a 2 tone jig then even a different color tail. then fine tune off the colors when I get bit.

Not always is it the color. Can be the size, shape and action of bait too.

For me a lot of times I will go to the other end of the color spectrum if I was using black I might put on pearl or glow or something like that, however a lot of times if the fish are not eating it the way it is I will often change the style of plastic at the same time. Sometimes I even just change the presentation of the plastic maybe shorten it or on mustache worms I often will pinch off half of it. Or one of my favorites is to change the way the plastic hangs off the bait from horizontal to vertical.

thanks for the help guys. sounds like it is time to spend some money on some different profiles and sizes.
