    Hey guys,

I am getting ready to head out for some crappie fishing this weekend. I have been all over town looking and the internet looking for some blood red mustache worms and there isnt any to be found. Dose anyone know of some place to get them. I haven’t tried using them yet and would like to give them a go this weekend. Also any tips or tricks for alternate bait in place of them would help. I have a feeling that everyone else is having the same luck I am finding them. Thanks in advance for the help!

There are so many plastics on the market it would be hard to suggest one to you as a replacement. There is no time where JUST the mustache worm is going to work, some bait on the market is going to work just as well (maybe better) at the same time. What I’m getting at is don’t sweat it if you can’t find the mustaches, they are not the only bait on the market that will catch fish.

    Ratso
    Shrimpo
    trigger-x waxtail
    northland 1″ mayfly
    northland 1″ smelt fry
    trigger-x 1″ minnow
    Gulp 1″ minnow

All of those baits have put crappies on the ice for me in the past month. For gills, don’t know.. I don’t specifically target them very often. But I do catch them all day long while chasing crappies with the above baits.

Pretty much anything that looks like a worm, bug, or minnow should be in your arsenal. Switch between your baits until you find the one the fish want that day.

I had the same problem last week and finally found some online at Reeds in Walker, Minnesota. I ordered them at 11:30 am. one day and got them 24 hrs later. Great service…..

I was in my local Ace Hardware store the other day and they had alot of them. With all the hype on here I had to buy a pack. I just need to find the time to get out and try them now.
