Sit in the truck and lay on the horn a couple times. Usually about two honks and my wife comes outta the house madder than a wet hen! Fishing with a pissed off wife is better than not fishing at all (most of the time)

It’s cold out. She probably wants to stay home and fish!

An independent wife that can handle her hubby going ice fishing while she is warm in the house is perfect. Maybe I should say for me…. it is perfect.

I guess I am really getting old and sentimental. My wife doesn’t icefish, but I sure do appreciate the few days that she goes out with me in the boat. Well worth the extra time I have to wait. Plus she usually makes it well worth my time….As well as the gawkers staring at her as they pass by

    Darrin,

I just surpassed the 33 year mark of being married to my wife.. I have gone thru the times of her coming along and the times of her not coming along… here is what I have done for any event/outing we have planned for..

If I want to be on the ice at 7am.. I tell her we need to be there by 6am… that way when we get there at 6:30 were actually a half hour early !!!

    Wa~la !!

    Early is on time
    On time is late
    and Late is unacceptable

I enjoy fishing with my wife, both open water and ice. Many years ago were on a houseboat trip. Ann took her dad and two brothers out in our old Lund. When they got back I don’t think I had ever seen her dad as proud of her as he was then. She picked the spot, ran the trolling motor, basicly was the guide. They hammered the Walleyes and got some nice bonus smallies. As you guys know that can be a lot of work.
Anyway…I’d put her up against a lot of guys I know when it comes to fishing. Here’s my point I wanted to make originally, having Ann into fishing has really broken down the “watch the spending” barrier. She doesn’t ice fish too much but I still have to buy enough stuff for a second person

It is so worth it to see the thrill in her face as she reels in the fish. From now on i will get her moving earlier so we get there on time. we did catch the tail end of the bite and it was great.
