Well……long gone are the long wait times for custom rods from Thorne Bros. I ordered a new 32″ Power Noodle last Friday afternoon. It arrived today. I was extremely impressed, 6 day turn around time, including shipping.

I have a bunch of Thorne Brothers rods and I love them. I do want to try a TUCR, but I’m very happy with the rods I have.

    I’ve house 4 Thorne Bros & 3 TUCR’s. I’m starting to think I have a problem.

I can help you with that problem and be happy to PM my shipping address. I carry 2 St. Croix rods and often think I need to leave one at home. I fish light and move alot so for me less gear = more fish. Some days it seems I need nearly an hour to backtrack to gather all my junk on the way out and kick myself for that since most of it rarely is used.

I finally tried my Thorne Bros. power noodle today for the first time. I’ve had one for a couple of years, but am more of a walleye fisherman than a pan fisherman, so haven’t used the noodle until today’s crappie outing. All I can say is wow. I out fished my buddy 8 to 1. I’ve always been a feel fisherman. But, I think the power noodle has turned me into a sight fisherman. I really don’t think I would have caught those fish with the Thorne Bros. quiver stick that I usually use for pan fish.

They are made fast because he probably ordered a “stock” rod and they had multiple on the shelf already made. Same thing with TUCR if you order a “standard” rod at the beginning of the season.

All thorne bros rods are hand made in their shop, you can go watch them make your rod if you want.

Wait, aren’t you the guy who said if you fish with a vexilar next to a marcum the vexilar will not pick up any fish and that is why all the pros use marcums?

Let me clear this up. I did NOT order a “stock” rod. I ordered 32″ with black & orange wraps and black titanium outside guides. This rod was custom built, shipped & landed on my doorstep in 6 days.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You obviously have never been to their store. Just another troll spouting off to stir the pot.

I’m thinking Mojo is on the right track.

TB had an issue with blank availability to them a couple seasons ago but that problem is long since past. The only time a custom rod MIGHT take a day or two longer is when TB is getting ready for a show.

I haven’t had any experience with Tuned Up but based on responses I have read here and elsewhere they share the same super service that TB offers.

TB and TU may be the only two companies today that don’t do business so much with the chickenese and certainly not in their rod markets. Whoever made the suggestion that TB dealt with the Chinese must have them confused with that other place out on highway 169 in Brooklyn Center.

Define “Chickenese?” Or was that just a typo? Dont blame the outsource, blame the company who decided to market a product and go cheap on you. With quality control a manufactured product can turn out good regardless of the place of country.

That’s even more impressive! Way to go TB!
