I was fishing tody with a 4 week old Marcum lx5 and it just started growling and went blank and a solid beep is all I get out of it now no info on the dial. I am guessing I have a faulty motor. Problem is I have a couple guys coming up wed.to go fishing for there first time. Tried calling Marcum and their closed.Does anyone have any other ideas. I have been faithfully plugging it in after every outing and it always seems to charge fully the charger goes red and changes green when its done. I tried unhooking battery and hooking back up. Do you think they would overnight a replacement? Are they having trouble with the lx-7s? I should have gotten one of those as I was going to get a backup but just thought I’d wait till next year.

Sorry for your problem. You may have to just old school it like we all did years ago. I seen on other site that if you email them it is better then phone. Good luck.

I can do it old school, but It just ain’t near as productive for me.I never had a flasher and always fished blind but since I’ve had one it would be hard to go without one. Thanks

4 weeks is like 30 days, I would take it back and get a exchange where you bought it.

Take it back to where you bought it from and politely tell the manager what happened and asked if he could exchange it for a new one for you.

If not, maybe if you call up marcum and tell them what happened and your plans for Weds they could overnight you a new head unit. I know they did that for a guy on another forum. Included in the box was a pre-paid shipping label to send his head unit in. Worth a shot at least.

X2, take that thing back, but first make sure battery is fully charged and connections are tight. Low friction connections both at the battery or where the power enters the head can cause problems.

I live in Missouri and bought it online from Glens I emailed Marcum and left a message as they were already closed. I am trying to find a lx 7 I can pick up tomorrow and see if they will overnight me a new lx5 and I will send mine in. Just sucks I should have bought a spare but like I said this is my first year with a flasher and thought it would last longer than a month.

Thats the only bad part of buying online is you cant just run down to the store you bought it from to take it back. I buy alot online myself too. Sorry for your problem. If you lived closer i would borrow you my LX-7. I know Marcum will take care of you. just hope they can get you something soon.

Do you have an open water unit that you could use in an ice pack. Many have a round flasher and ice mode. This would give the most familiar setup on short notice.

Some of the chargers have been problematic. It may be worth while to hook the unit up to a battery you KNOW FOR A FACT is good.

You can hook it to a car battery. Turn the graph on and hold the graphs battery connections to the battery posts of the car battery.

Thanks guys I will try the truck battery but I heard a growling motor sound I’m guessing I’m screwed and I bought online cause no where around me has flashers we just aren’t a big market in my area althought I’ve ice fished for years just haven’t had this much ice for so long,I should buy a spare but with all the new stuff I’ve bought this year I’d be in the dog house. Are the Marcum 7’s more reliable,if I do buy another I might try one of those, I would love to try a 9 but I hole hope around after slabs so much I’m afraid it would be to heavy?

Yea too bad your so far away, I have a couple VX-1’s that you could use for a few days. Best bet is to try Glen’s and Marcum, they might overnight you one if you pay the extra shipping and give them a credit card to hold until the damaged one arrives back.

Frustrating when things go wrong. Just keep sight of this is the heart of the season where equipment failures are at the highest point. Often as email feels slow, it helps them in forwarding the info to the best person first. Sounds like you have a good handle on the situation.

Ya its frustrating but its just one of those deals, not the end of the world but still,I ordered a replacement from cabelas and had it overnighted should be here tomorrow,I was just thinking they should overnight me something o well. I needed a spare anyhows.Almost bought a vex but I really like this Marcum.I did ask if they had a 7 and I would gladly upgrade to one and they don’t have one of them either.Heck I would upgrade to a 9 if they would get it here. Stuff breaks just part of it.Kind of funny I can’t contact them at all by phone though.

Not that this helps, but in-stock at Normark isn’t the same as in-stock at Marcum (Versa). Normark doesn’t handle warranty stuff; just marketing, sales and distribution. It’s too bad Marcum can’t expedite a replacement out today, I know I’d be salty to send a 4wk old unit in and play the waiting game with nothing to use.

Just got a call from Marcum,They said they made a mistake and they are able to send me a new head and ducer out today. And mine is on the way back to them. That makes my day better.Pretty good customer service,I guess I am to impatient as I was beginning to doubt them, should of took into account they are probably swamped right now.
