All my tip ups are Beaver Dams. I’ve accumulated close to 20 of them over the years. Several of them need to be repacked/relubed. If you take care of them, they should last a long time. I have some from the late 70’s.

Does it get annoying when the water freezes? I’m used to the thermal tip ups. Is it all that bad?

I use Jack Traps and have been very happy. Not only do they work very well, highely visible, require few if any modifications, are lifetime tip-ups and don’t have wind flags but they good as well. I couldn’t get by with flat style tip-ups like Polars or BDs in our deep snow.
