I will be in the market for a new flasher this year. I like the LX 6. I would just like one that could be customized for the hole hopper. Lose the dual beam add a single 20. lose the 12v battery, add a bracket that can hold a 6v battery. I would like to not have sore arms at the end of the fishing day. Has anyone inquired about this???

If you want a lighter unit you could go buy a lithium battery.

A flasher will not run on a 6v battery, and the dual beam/single has a weight difference of a pocket knife. About the only way to lighten them up is to go lithium.

What, are you carrying your flasher with your arm extended straight out?!? I’ve never had an issue with arms hurting from my LX3.

Now drilling a hundred some holes with my Strikelite is another story. My arms feel like jello at the end of those days.

While they’re doing that, shrink the plastic carrier so that it will fit in a 5 gallon bucket for safe transport for long walks to get away from the crowd. I’d gladly give up the red cover to help out.

this is absurd, it’s like asking brewerys to make 12 packs using 6 oz cans. The weight savings means only one thing, less beer…go buy a showdown.

Hole hop with a lx9 for a few weeks then go to a little lx6. You’ll love the weight reduction

Sounds like a good way to toughen up. Sore arms means you actually did something physical. If that’s all it takes, time to lift some weights, or hole hop MORE.

Lithium would also drop weight significantly.
Also, if you don’t fish long outings, smaller AH battery.

These guys aren’t kidding about the Lithium batteries. James has the Ice Force Lithiums in his units, and I swear his LX 9 w/ lithium weighs less than my LX 6 with a gel cell. I hop holes all day for 10+ hours a day sometimes with my LX 6 and it doesn’t bother me much at all, but picking up his LX 6 felt like I was holding an empty case!

I just went Lithium with my Elite 5. GREAT move by me. I got a 4.5 amp and it works for me. Only 1.4 lbs. 60 bucks. Now I am going to get look at making a lighter base unit.

There are plenty of different LiOn batteries out there, but they are not all created equal. I can’t find the original thread, but James was talking about all the different Lithium batteries that he and the guys were testing, some of them were not dependable. The battery that Ice Force chose to put their label on was the one that performed the best. IMO for the 2 cents its worth; if you’re going to invest in a good battery, the Ice Force one should be up there at the top of the list. I know you can order them at http://www.rapala.com under the Marcum tab and then under “parts and accessories.” I’m not sure which stores they’re in, as I pretty much have to buy most of my stuff online and have it shipped up here

However they are 20% off right now!
