I gave up on them years ago. They are nothing but a pain. Arms are so much better or just let it hang.

    Very true about those bears.

    Just say no to bobbers.

It all depends what the fish want. If they are lethargic set it inches off the bottom and a lazy one may take it. Some times they are only going to lip the bait and need more time to take the bait in. Every presentation has a time and a place.

LOL Good call, totally missed that.
Now due to change in direction The float on a transducer cable just increases likely hood of entanglement in my opinion.

Yup I broke mine after 5 years and I built an aluminum one! Longer reach and more durable Not as fancy as the ones I have seen here but I used a saw, drill press, and some elbow grease!

When I bought my ICE 45 4 years ago, the first thing I did was take off the “support cable” and the transducer float. The more minimal the things in the ice hole are, the less chance of getting tangled and losing a fish.

When I find that I’m catching fish too easily, and lets be honest, they normally don’t stand a chance, I usually throw a couple extra transducers in the hole, just to give them a chance to get tangled up.

If you guys are interested in other ways to make fishing more difficult I have lots of ways I do that. Some examples:

-Have a friend ‘assist’ you at the hole by constantly pulling and moving your line from one side of the hole to the other.

-Have a friend ‘get the transducer’ out of the hole, but make sure they don’t check to see if your line is wrapped around the transducer before they do that.

-Rest the sunflower heater directly next to your hole, the added possibility of my line(or jacket)melting at any time adds a lot of suspense to the day!

-Don’t tighten the reel handle after taking it out of my hard case, that way when I get that first bite there’s always the possibility of the reel handle coming completely off!

I have lots more ideas if you guys are interested.

    Haha

I like them, I fish from my 4 wheeler a fair amount, I can keep my locater on the rack, or on a bucket. It does take some getting used to, but I rarely have the locater on the ice. Yes, I have tangled… a challenge is good occasionally.

Floats are great when you’re setup in a shack and not planning on moving. You can flop the ducer from hole to hole to check deadstick depths without moving the flasher.
