Maybe cj&s should have closed when it was so cold. Jig makers probably couldn’t feel their hands.

I haven’t run into the “new” ones but I love the “offset” hook…..

The hook offset does look nice, but the eye offset just makes the jig go around in tight circles instead of holding steady and “waving” the plastic.

Well, if that’s the case with the jig just “circling”, not sure why they would offset the eye then???? Obviously, that’s not what we all need…a jig that circles even more than normal lol!!!!!

Oh, where did that “bead type collar thing” go?????

I don’t know, wasn’t any beads or little plastic thingy in the package. The hook off-set would be grand if the eye wasnt off center. With testing in the tank, I can make it fish true if I bend the knot to the opposite (left) side a little bit.. but that will get old when on the ice.

I’ll just drop them down in my carp hole here on the river… they’ll be gone in 20 minutes.

I noticed the shark hook too, I wish every company used the hooks on fiskas, those things are insane, never really liked the gill pills orientation as far as tie point, it seemed like I would always have to squash the knot back against the jig body to make it work like I wanted to, to me fiska or scandia makes a better jig than anything in the CJS lineup and if I was gunna use a shrimpo or ratso I could do the same thing better with a purist or rembrant in the shallow stuff

Have you tried the checkai? I switched from wolframs to the chekais and couldn’t be happier! The hooks on those are just as sharp as the fiskas, I’ve put a couple completely into my thumb already on accident without much pressure at all. I LOVE the 3mm glow red for bluegills.

But again, its a thin wire ultra-sharp hook unlike the gill pills. I use the gill pills for bigger plastics in shallow water.

no can’t say I have, big thumbs up on the 3mm, supposedly fiska makes a 2.5 but usually if I’m going small it’s gunna be size 12-16 marmooska, lead ain’t cool anymore but the slower fall I think makes a big difference, I’ll pick up some of those chekai jigs and let ya know how I do, sounds like some kind of crazy polack invention but at least around west central wisco those are the best kind, if I can remember to post a pic. I made “the polish snowmobile” that things is the sweetest ice sled I’ve used, fits a five gallon buckets width perfectly (24 pack of brew fits snug too), and sits on skis, it’s even got a compartment in front that fits a spare pounder of propane and has hooks on the back for skiddin out slimers

Astute observation. I bought some there a while back. I wonder if they’re janky too?

Gotta also wonder if CJ&S has gone the way of the cheapest bidder like so many other’s have.

I’ve always wished someone made a tiny jig with a bigger hook for walleyes. I’ll have to look for them.

Maybe send fishbizbob a PM on this. Cant remember the last time I seen him on IDO but he usually stops in every now and again. Like the off set hook on that jig but the eyelets does look messed up. No beads? Not sure what to make of that.

This may sound like a stupidity question….Was this in a CJS package? Possible knock off by another manufacture? When i saw Bob at the wholesale shows this last fall, I was checking out all the displays for 2014 product and didn’t notice any changes. Strange

We haven’t changed anything, it looks like a bad jig ,we would never do an offset eye like the one in this picture. We sell so many jigs over the course of a year that occasionally a few bad ones slip through QC. Stuff happens, send me a PM with your name address etc and I’ll be happy to send a few replacements out.

Of course, I wouldn’t buy them any other way. Like I said, I like to support CJ&S.

Side note, finally got to try those wedgee tails and man do the bluegills like them. They slurp them right in. Are they no longer offered in motor oil? That’s the color I’ve been doing good with and I don’t see it listed on the CJ&S site.

Yes they are available still in Motor Oil, must be a glitch online. You can order any color and then put a note on the order that you don’t want “such and such color but actually want motor Oil” and they’ll make the switch.

Awesome, I’ll place an order in a few days and do just what you said if the color is not listed.

Hey Bob, how about a tiny jig just like that with a bigger hook for walleyes. Nobody does it do they? I know exactly how that happened as I used to make jigs. Somebody just got or mixed a hook when putting them in the centrifugal molds.

Boss. Have you looked at the BfishN H2O jigs? I know not not designed with ice fishing in mind but they do have smaller sizes with larger hook. Believe those jigs are on the CJ&S web site.

Thanks Mike but there’s a million of that style. I want a super tiny, short shank, thin wire hook with just a drop of tungsten on it. That gill pill would be perfect.

A bump for anyone who followed the topic. Bob sent me out some replacement jigs, a box, and a pack of the plastics I’ve been using lately all free of charge. I got them today. What a stand-up company!
