I also have the 3.17 if anybody wants it upgraded to 4.07 and mine was pausing on the graph mode and I also noticed in simulator with dynamic it would pause a lot too so they emailed me the 3.17

Yes. Same transducer used for both.

I also experienced issues with 4.07 and rolled back to 3.17. But I have to say, I am still a big fan of Marcum but am a little discouraged by my recent experience. Similar to others, the screen would flicker bad, and eventually freeze up the unit entirely. Further, the menu buttons would not work either once the unit froze up. The only way I could recover was to force the unit to power down to restart. I do have a LX-7 that is a couple years old, so I too am wondering if newer LX-7’s may have more CPU, memory, or better video card that can handle the update more smoothly. The sensitivity change was also something I experienced, but that didn’t bother me too much since it seemed to work at a setting of 2 just fine. Not sure what application would require a setting beyond 5 or so. That along begs the question if the sensitivity “enhancement” was intentional or not. Either way, I am holding in strong with Marcum and just hope they take folks seriously about these issues and look to resolve.

I should mention, I didn’t experience the issue if I used Manual or Auto. Just Dynamic and Dynamic Manual. Also use Graph mode with vertical zoom. I think if you are using Manual or Auto range, things seem to perform fine.

I have used 4.07 and am OK with it except I think the sensitivity adjustment is back to being too course again. I preferred the previous version as it had finer adjustabilty. I am not sure what motivated the change. previous version was much better and allowed for better fine tuning.

I agree that in deeper water the gain/sensitivity has to be low…but has anyone else used their lx7 in 6fow or less? I have to set my sensitivity to 21 or 22 just to see my jig no matter the size. Emailed marcum and they suggested switching to open water mode, playing with color palettes, and making sure the ducer is as high as possible in the hole. Tried all of these and still have to have my sensitivity cranked up.

I do not understand why the gain has to be cranked up in shallow water? I would think that you would have to crank it up in deeper water?

Make sure your transducer is hanging level and is not touching the side of the hole. You will not see your jig until you get to about 3.5′ on the screen.

    Kevin Thanks
I understand how the cone works but once you get your bait in the cone in shallow water I would think very little sensitivity is needed in shallow water.

I haven’t upgraded as of yet. I have fished in 5′ of water. I have to put my cone in the center of the hole half way up the hole in 18″ of ice. Line has to go next to the transducer to pick up jig at 3′ below the transducer. Gain levels very allot between types of jigs. My swivel will show up better than a small verticle jig. Gain has to be up high for the small jig. 1/16 pug bug on I need to turn down the gain next to nothing.

I know i feel the same way….thats why i emailed Marcum. Ducer is perfectly flat, made sure multiple times. I can see everything fine but the settings to do so make no sense to me what so ever.

I Own the Lx 6, got it for x-mas. It worked perfect for about 8 outings with v3.17, then one day my jig started fading in an out only time you could see it was when you moved it. That night I went home frustrated and found the new upgrade v4.07 was available. I downloaded and it helped with my fading jig, but developed all types of different problems which everyone else has mentioned plus this. I now have target displayed on the dial all the time, which I discovered is ducer offset. It goes away when I do a factory reset , but comes back. I also contacted Marcum and sent them pictures and I was told to try the the same things. open water mode. ducer high in the center of hole. They also emailed me the old v3.17 version. I’m surprised I found all these complaints, when Marcum told me they had over 2000 downloads for V4.07 and not many complaints. I’m addicted to the unit now. but don’t Know if the problem is with my unit or the firmware? They should run these new versions for awhile and work out the bugs before releasing them. I guess were the test team without benefits. When I spoke with them on the Phone You can Tell there frustration from all the call volume. I still think I have a problem because my headache started with v3.17. Still not giving up on Marcum its a great unit when working properly lets go Marcum Makes us Happy!

I was finally able to put a few hours on the update of my LX7 today and mine worked flawlessly! I can’t wait to get the open water transducer and use it in theboat!!
