I havn’t seen the micro 5 in person so I was looking for peoples reviews on this camera. I understand that Aqua Vu has made some improvements since the micro series has come out a few years ago. I’m not trying to start a Marcum vs. Aqua Vu battle. Just want honest review from someone who has one. By the way, I own the VS625SD. Thanks.

I was curious myself and purchased it the other day from a chain store to test out. Not sure if the one I got was just a fluke in the bunch or which, but the seal sticker on box was not broken to show as a restocked item. Didn’t even make it to the ice before I realized that it was not worth the price for me.

Out of the box the screen cover/sun shield had scratches on it. The unit powered right up when lifting up the screen cover and had the fin attachments to add. Testing out the video (not in water), I noticed the screen was fairly fuzzy (for the price, it should be much more clear). Turned off all the lights and tried the IR feature and the middle left screen had a large white blotch which never went away or moved no matter which way I aimed the lens.

Since this was a deal breaker in my opinion, I never tested it further in water or connecting the A/V cables and returned for refund.

Thanks for the reply, I hope it was a fluke because I ordered one today through a local store. I had similar problems with my new Marcum 625 camera and had to send it in twice before it was repaired. Every once in a while stuff just happens. I just want to be a more mobile fisherman with a smaller camera.

Please post on how yours turns out. I tested out the A/V on the TV before returning last night and the image was less fuzzy than the Aquavu’s screen which leads me to believe the screen was bad on this unit.
