Cargo Trailer Into Fish House

Some remember about my post I had a couple months ago about turning a my dad’s cargo trailer into a fish house. After some brain storming and some research I decided to make the move. I was kind of worried about it at first, but the with a little reassurance from my dad we went ahead and started the project.

I tried to keep it as simple as possible due to the fact that he still needs to use this trailer to be able to haul his toys around in the summer. After a long week of many hours, we were able to finish this project. We took it out for the first time last week and we are very impressed on how well this shack actually turned out. It stayed at a very comfortable 70 degrees and didn’t even know it was gusting up to 20 MPH outside. After all I wanted to be able to rig this trailer up so me and my dad can start taking some fishing trips together since we both are getting older and we can never bring back the days we wish we would have done this. After all, I am very pleased with the outcome of this project and I just wanted to share with you what the finished project looks like. The only thing we still have to do is throw up 2 fold down bunks on each wall.

Looks like it turned out very nice. Is that a skirt along the bottom edge? If so, how/what did you use to make it?

    Thanks and great work.

I purchased a heavy marine vinyl at the fabric store after taking some measurements. Then I cut it to fit letting the bottom run long onto the ice. Then I bought some heavy snaps and screwed them along the bottom trim. Then I put Velcro on the corners. Keeps the floor from getting cold.

Nice! I just did the same thing with a smaller trailer for a 1-2 man shack. Question: Where did you buy the windows, and how much? I haven’t put wondows in mine yet, and just done a little looking at thermopane RV windows.
I’ll post some pictures of mine in the next few days also.

That looks nice good job. The only thing I can see a problem is the door handle not the one for the door it’s self but it one that folds over and locks it. Got to find a way to lock it open. I can see someone locking you in thinking they are cute.

I was going to use mine to sleep in hunting but was concerned about being locked in.

Nice job on the trailer. It’s great to be able to get as much use as you can out of it.

Did you spray foam the walls and roof? I showed my wife your pic’s and she is on board with doing that to our trailer.

Mine is a 6×14 non V front but I can work with that.
