Showdown transducer problem

I am currently having issues with my marcum showdown transducer, by this I mean the plug in for the ducer into the unit itself does not always make a connection, thus I cannot turn the unit on at all. What I have been doing is just playing around with and wiggling the plug in the port until I get it to the correct position when it will allow me to turn it on. Any suggestions or has anyone experienced this with the unit? Should I get a new transducer?

It honestly should not be a very touchy plug in as long at it is snug I would think that a connection should be made, its kind of irritating to have to take the gloves off and tinker with it when the fish are biting, the other day I ended up just leaving it and fishing without it. Thanks for any input in advance.

I also had problems with my showdown shutting off when i bumped it or moved it…it was a couple years ago and if i remember right it was not the ducer but the cable that went to the battery had a short in it. Sent it into marcum and they fixed it no charge but it was less than a year old at the time.

I would think it would turn on without the ducer connected, sounds like a possible power issue.

No, on the showdown the cord that connects the ducer to the unit also has a “tail” connected to it which is then connected to the battery, so the power and ducer are combined into a single plug.

I’ve had the issue where it will shut off on me when I bump it. I think I have an older generation though, do they still have a fuse on newer showdowns? I always though it shutting off on me was a bad connection on the terminals.

I live close enough to them that I should bring it in for a once over. I need the stupid rubber stopper anyway. I’ve had a hard time trying to Macgyver it to stay on the arm.

I have tried wiggling the terminal connections as well, but has never made any difference, I’ve had to always play with the plug in to the unit to get it to work.

I’ll have to play around with mine the next time I have issues. That reminds me, I need to go by some spare fuses.
