If you have the 7 send it in for the LX9 conversion. Best upgrade for $500.00 out there.
I don’t know when it comes out but what is the new update supposed to do?
last heard upgrade was for mid december.that was for lx7 i think or maybe both?. in any case i’m running 3.17 version on my lx7 and it is working great. as for what the upgrade is for not sure, but i’m sure it will improve on any issues or non issues that the new version 3.17 is having.i’ve read alot of reviews and different problems users are having with their units and not everybody are having these issues running the same version.so imo i would think marcum will be addressing these issues and inhancing others.
I haven’t see any issues with 3.17. Fella I fish with on a regular basis has had zero issues with the 3.17.
Grape vine talk says an update is still being worked on, few things to work thru. But that’s just here say.
Im running version 3.17 also and its working great. No problems here..
Maybe the next update will be so awesomer that they deemed it too good for release at this time. “The update, you can’t handle the update” picture jack Nicholson in a few good men.
just want to say something about upgrading to the latest version on these units.i heard of a person not upgrading and when he did decide to update multipul versions his unit crashed and he had to send it in to marcum.this has not been confirmed that this was the problem but not upgrading may give you some troubles down the road if you have to do an upgrade and have to do each one in sequence to get caught up to the latest version.some people just won’t do the upgrade because of the fear something will happen and to it. if it ain’t broke why fix it attitude.it just makes sense to keep up with them.even if your unit is not experinceing any problems.
The problems you are talking about with the last update were caused by Marcum assuming the general public could read and follow directions. There were 2 versions of the new update. One version if you were updating from the former latest software. I don’t remember the version or I would state it. The other version was for any other older software. Many people just downloaded the first version they saw without reading further and hence the problems. Who was to blame? Certainly if you were one that installed the wrong version and had issues , you would blame Marcum. Marcum on the other hand did explain how the update should have been handled had everyone read the directions, but in the end many customers made mistakes.
well i’m not blaming anyone.all i am saying is that to avoid any problems in the future you should do upgrades. again if marcum puts out an upgrade its to add or or enhance or to clear up these little bugs people are having.and i would think that most of their efforts to do this relies on input from there prostaff and there customers.and the assumption that people are reading and understanding these procedures.
Earlier last month I updated a friends LX6 to V3.17. I notice in the previous version for the LX6 dynamic range was unusable, range jump alot, & even graphical display was blurry. After upgrading to V3.17 it was almost complete different unit. There are still some querks that need to be made but things definitely was working right. The graphical display was clearer and smoother too.
However dynamic range still has pixelation or graphic garble on the flasher dial mode display. Its pretty evident in use and even in demo mode. The depth still jumps occassionally but that is expected and minor at this point.
Some will think this is a defect, its definitely not if left in auto depth and not dynamic you will not get the screen garble pixelation with the flasher dial display. I have seen this myself with my own LX6, another LX6 and even display store LX6 all on V3.17.
So I am hopeful for an upgrade that can help correct this software error or bug that causes the screen garble as well as maybe smooth out the graphical display on the LX6 further as its still hazy when compared to the LX7.
These are just my observations. As far as improvements I like to see better use of the graphical display size on screen. Flasher dial display could be drawn a little larger on the screen or fill the screen better as well as the other display modes. But regardless of any this im the hardwater season is about half over. So if there is an update coming it would be nice. If not then not the end of the world.
My 7 is terrible in dynamic depth mode. It started with the depth lines on graph mode flickering. Now the flasher dial jumps depth, I get the black triangle in the bottom of dial, and my depth jumps on graph quite often along with some of my gauges flashing.
do you still have warranty.? or what else were you planning to do about it.

AS someone that is participating in the testing process of the newest update I can say with confidence that a resolution for any issue you’re seeing in dynamic mode is on the way along with a bunch of new features and functionality.
Thanks James! Just the news I was looking for. I really didn’t want to send it in. I want to thank you for all your help. And keep up with the great shows.
Habs, I just bought it this spring. I called Marcum and they told me they hadn’t heard of this problem. I could send it in now or if it didn’t bother me to much that I could wait until after season is done and then send it in. I have always had good luck with the CS at Marcum. I’m sure if I would send it in I would have it back within a week or 2. Just don’t want to be without it now. And as long as I am not using dynamic depth it works great.
great dab65,if you can hang on till spring, hope everything works out for you. have a great ice season.
I hope future updates will make my LX-6 more useful for shallow water fishing. Most of my fishing is in 6 feet of water or less, often 4 feet. My LX-6 will not show anything for the first 32 inches under the transducer. So the LX-6 sits at home while my old Ice-35 will clearly show the lure and fish at 1 foot. High flying crappies are often less than 2 feet under the ice.

Hopefully the info James said on here is right. Otherwise Marcum has been great to me in the past so I’m not worried at all.
Hope the the new update works in shallow water and weeds. I haven’t seen James do a show in the weeds yet..LOL
