    Isn’t that cheating?

    Mn DNR thinks so.

Why not just put a slip bobber rod with a open bail in the otter rod holder? Takes up less space and works just as good!

I would disagree with the just as good.

I think the person saying MN DNR does not like them is thinking of the automatic fisherman.

As for the why not use a bobber rod… I could have.. no doubt.. but I have the two tip downs and one fits set up in my ice house…and one hole for jiggin !!!

It’s just what I have already set up…

You’re correct, if you have a properly weighted slip bobber it’s far superior. Less resistance on a properly weighted bobber. You have a reel with a drag and it’s far easier to get fish in from deep water.

    Yep Yep !!!

Bet that would make for a great deeper water dead stick…
I was maxed out in depth at 5.1 feet on the LX6 !!!

These two perch had the small treble hook just inside the mouth at full tilt of the tip down..

    Fun !!!

Sweet lookin mixed bag of fish there!! A tip down in the shack is way cooler than a lousy ol’ bobber anyway.

Yeah but dead sticks are boring! And you will always catch more fish on a tip down than a dead stick.

I use a Dangler tip down all the time in my shack as well as outside, it allows you to use a rod with a spinning reel which for me is a lot more fun than handlining fish. I think they work great and have never had one malfunction ive caught a 18 and a 19/12″ largemouth as well as panfish, also walleyes but haven’t been chasing them yet this year, they do not take up much space at all in a shack and are light weight and compact when folded down
