Odd Flasher Noise

This weekend my dad and I were fishing. I put my Marcum VX1 Pro down a hole and lines were rotating around the dial coming from the bottom going towards the surface. There was no one around us at the time so I didn’t think it would have been interference. My sonar worked fine in any other hole. Later I dropped his Vexilar in the hole and the same thing happened. Why would that hole give us lines coming up off the bottom. We both thought it was strange. We were not running our flashers at the same time either when it was doing this.

Possibly directly over a hard object? Causing a bunch of scrambled returns confusing the unit maybe.
