My story actually started last weekend. I stumbled upon a great crappie bite on a pressured public lake in northern Illinois. I was lucky to have this bite all to myself for 2 trips in a row. I was catching 30-40 9.5″-12″ crappie in just a couple hours. I released 90% of them!!
Today I get to the lake to see 8 tents set up on the spot I had found. I drill in and within 10 min I had 6 crappie and had lost 3 others. After that I decided to get away from the crowd so I got my lake map out and found another area to try. I walk over and find I am the first to drill any holes this year. After 3 holes I was on another big school of crappie.
This is all on a lake that I have never caught a crappie on the ice. Tuesday I even got a bonus 17″ saugeye.
