Does a day like today or tomorrow (above freezing) do much to change the strength of the ice, or does it just melt the snow, lose an inch, etc? Is driving just about thickness, or is past temp a factor?

I don’t know what kind of ice/snow you guys have… but we have about 5″ of snow on top of 8-10″ of ice here. These warm temps won’t even melt all the snow. It will make for a slushy day tomorrow though.

Nope, you will be fine. if anything the warmth will let you fish w/o gloves which is always a plus, don’t worry about the ice thickness! just keep your boots out of the slush as much as possible.

It shouldn’t affect the ice much. It’s just 39 degrees for a high around the cities here. It takes a good string of days to make it really slushy on top and the ice that has formed down here is pretty solid.
