Fished for a couple hours this afternoon. Landed over 150 fish (mostly small bluegills), kept 14 crappies and 2 small bluegills.

Hot bait was a #6 clown colored demon jigging spoon from custom jigs and spins, tipped with a maggot on each hook.

LOVE IT! Perfect rod for the smallest demon and slender spoons. Just perfect!

Its a 13 fishing wicked ice 27″ UL combo. I had put 2# sufix ice on it but just now switched it to 3# sufix ice magic since it will be a spoon rod.

Not 100% pleased with the reel however, I would suggest if anyone is looking at that rod to go ahead and purchase just the rod for $29.99 MSRP and put a pflueger or shimano on it.

Deepest part of the lake, suspended half way.

What didn’t you like about the reel? I’ve used mine quite a bit in the last week and haven’t had any problems.

Well, the factory grease got thick on me the first time out so I had to strip it completely and re-lube with hot sauce. That helped a lot, but its still not as smooth as a pflueger or shimano. The drag was very catchy when I first got it, so I cleaned the small drag washer and lubed it with hot sauce, which also helped a lot but again… not as smooth as what I would like.

It is breaking in some though, seems to be getting smoother each time out. So far I’ve caught 2 bass and one giant crappie that worked the drag, it handled them nice but I could feel a little hesitation before the run where the drag was hanging up. I’m going to try a new drag washer and see if that helps any.
