Several roads have been plowed on Shagwa Lake and ice is between 10″-22″ across the lake. There are some areas of slush that you shouldn’t have to deal with if you stick to the plowed roads. The walleye and jumbo perch have been hanging in depths between 20-30 feet and are staging up on the flats quite well. Tullibee are much more active this year than I’ve seen in years past, find them in 25-40 feet. Many of the smaller lakes are best for snowmobile, wheeler or foot travel, but luckily they are smaller lakes so distance isn’t too big of a deal. The evening bite has been far superior to the morning bite as of late, but on Shagwa you can catch a nice walleye in the middle of the night or at high noon. Merry Christmas and tight lines!
