I am looking at the clam xl6000tc wondering if there is any insight on this house?

Mine took a dump on one of these really cold days. 2 of the windows split and the zipper grabber thingies. The little handles on the zippers are whimpy. 3 of them broke. 1 on the bag 1 on each door. Clam costomer service is treating me well though, all I have to do is take pictures and send them in and they will ship me a new one. If I was to do it over I would get an insulated one. There is so much condensation it rains constantly. But yes it is handy.

I would more consider their newer fully insulated models. For one they are fully insulated. Secondly they have the newest hub designs. I personally love my thermal summit and have had no problems going on 3rd season. To confidently put up mine if it’s windy out I need two people. That 6000 model would need 3 people on windy days…but I’m assuming with wanting to go with that size you might have a small army out on the ice with you.

yeah my reasoning for the 6000 would be for groups of 4-6 anglers at a time should not be much issues with heating it being i have 2 big buddy heaters

i have a yukon flip over house if only 2 anglers or just myself are fishing

I think you will only need one heater with the thermal.

I agree…..they are a weak. When mine broke on the bag I drilled a new hole in the middle of the black plastic thing that you pull on. Seems to have fixed it. It has been good for a couple years now. The wall thickness near the one end is too thin.

I had a XL6000 TC and sold it for the XL4000 T. It did take 2 big buddy heaters to stay comfortable. Without thermal side walls I was getting a lot of ice build up…even on the thermal cap. Very heavy with all the extra build up. You will need a large heated space to thaw this out between outings. To much weight and extra gear needed for this to work for me.

I read reviews on the zippers on the Clams and I ended up going with the Eskimo 949I. Some people I know recommended it. It’s insulated and well made, the hub assembly is very sturdy and I like that the windows open. very happy with the purchase and would recommend it. $260 and free shipping from L&M.
