I purchased a strike master Honda 35 auger recently. The first time out it ran like a top. This morning I drilled only 8 holes with it and now it wants to die unless the throttle is pulled a little, what’s the diagnosis???

Could be a gas tank venting issue. Mine has done something similar when I had the gas tank really full. After drilling a few holes it wants do die. If I open the gas cap and screw it back down I can drill a few more holes.

When the gas level gets a little lower then there is no issue.

    Good Luck

Idle set a little to low, there should be an adjustment screw with a spring on it if it’s like the other Strikemasters.

Sounds exactly like a problem I had about a year ago. As others have pointed out, the quick fix on the ice was just to open the gas cap and give it a bit of oxygen. For me the issue turned out to be water in the breather line which would freeze up and keep oxygen out… I let it thaw and thencleaned out the breather line foam filter with a little gas to displace the water and it was problem solved
