I have the solo powered SM about 3 years old and this year I am noticing gas leaking from the air filter area. Anyone had this problem and know a remedy? Do not want to be with out an auger to bring it to d rock. So if I have to deal with dumping the gas back into can after each outing I guess I’ll survive!

Check the gas lines, they tend to crack and leak. The only other reason for gas to leak out of the carb is a stuck float.

I will check the lines tonight. The thing runs like a champ still. Starts great, idles great, and at WOT drills great. Would a stuck float affect the running of motor?? Thanks

Fuel filter shrinkage from drying out?? Just talked to a small engine buddy but I have never heard of this. But could be true as I always drain all the gas at seasons end. He says the filter shrinks up when it dries out and never goes back to original size and the gas leaks by the filter thru the carb and into the back of my Tahoe!

Yep it happens, lines also dry out, harden and crack… I have went to leaving gas in mine and running it at least monthly over the summer, no issues yet in 5 years of doing this…Always ran my old ones dry and did have issues with a couple diaphrams go out on me….
