Ice conditions on the Bay are improving with the lower bay having a solid ice pack completely across the bay with ice depths ranging from 6 to 10 inches in most areas. Ice conditions in the upper Bay from Sturgeon Bay north are not yet safe enough to be traveling off shore with recent winds opening up a large area about a mile off shore for many miles down the Peninsula. The ice cutters are expected to keep traveling for a while yet to keep ships moving so extreme caution needs to be taken when venturing on to the ice. Hopefully we dont get too much snow and the next week has some colder temps in the forecast and ice conditions should improve. We will continue to keep checking ice conditions and keep things posted.
