I recently bought the s cable for my FL8. I fish shallow ponds. With the cable I have to turn up the gain to 5. I think that I get a better reading without it. The one pond is 6-10 feet deep. Whats the deal?
I had an FL8 a while back and bought an S-cable for shallow fishing in heavy weeds. It’s meant to cut back on the power hence the reason having to turn up the gain. I sold the unit for actually for good money and purchased a unit that comes with low power option that replaces the S-cable. I hope that answers your question. Ray
The S cable is for fishing in brush/weeds and shallow (3-4′) water. Turning the gain up is normal, that’s how it works. In 6-10′ if you are not fishing in weed beds the S cable is giving you no advantage.
